On Friday, January 29, 2016, deputies were dispatched to a George Hays Road residence regarding an assault. Upon arrival, Sergeant Kirk Mays spoke to a 40-year-old female who stated that her son had physically attacked her. The female stated that in self defense she used a kitchen knife to stab him.
Prior to Sgt. Mays’ arrival, the suspect left the residence. Williamsburg Police Officer Jim Pool later received information of the suspect’s whereabouts. Following that lead, Sgt. Mays, officer Pool and deputies Tim Baker and Jonas Saunders located the suspect at a nearby location along Savoy Road.
22-year-old Roy D. Golden was found with two wounds to his arm and was transported by ambulance to Baptist Health in Corbin. After being treated, he was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center. Golden is charged with fourth-degree assault and was also served with a warrant for a parole violation.
