Deputy Fox received a complaint on 5-17-16 at approximately 1700 hours at Akins Lane in Corbin from victim Ryan Mount stating a motorcycle, firearm and other personal belongings had been stolen from his residence. A witness at the residence saw the offender Johnny Mullis age 29 of Davenport Lane in the Canada Town area leave the residence on the motorcycle with a duffle bag belonging to the victim. After taking report and checking known addresses for the offender Deputy Fox received a tip that Mullis was possible back in the Canada Town area. While enroute to a known address Fox observed the offender on the motorcycle matching the description of the one stolen earlier. Fox initiated a traffic stop on the motorcycle and Mullis refused to stop and tried to go through a nearby yard were Mullis dropped the motorcycle and after a brief struggle was subdued and taken into custody by Fox. Mullis had a loaded 45 caliber automatic handgun inside of his waistband behind his back, and was also found to be in possession of controlled substance’s, and drug paraphernalia. Mullis was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center. Fox was assisted on scene by L.T. Dennis Foley.
Mullis was charged with Fleeing or Evading 1st Degree- Motor Vehicle, Operating Motor Vehicle under influence- Agg Circumstance, Operating on Suspended or Revoked License, Carrying Concealed Deadly Weapon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st degree, Resisting Arrest, Theft by Unlawful Taking- Auto o/500 u/10,000 , Theft by Unlawful Taking- Firearm, Theft by Unlawful Taking all Others o/500 u/10,000
