On June 29, 2016, deputies responded to a two vehicle wreck at the intersection of Hwy 26 and Hwy 6 in the Woodbine community. A 2010 Dodge Caliber was traveling North on Hwy 26 when a 1997 Ford Escort failed to stop before attempting to turn onto Hwy 26, according to witnesses. Upon impact, the Dodge left the roadway and struck a tree.
The Dodge was occupied by its operator, Victoria E. Carter, 48, of Rockholds. The Escort was occupied by its operator, Samuel L. Crabtree, 47, of Louisville and a passenger, Christine E. Crabtree, 41, also of Louisville.
Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles. Carter and Samuel Crabtree, were flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Christine Crabtree was taken by EMS to a nearby hospital.
Corbin Fire Department assisted at the scene. Detective John Hill is continuing the investigation into the collision and was assisted by Chief Deputy Tim Baker.
