Around 10 a.m. July 22, 2016, sheriff deputies were notified that a shooting had occurred at a Perkins Street residence in the Woodbine community.
Sergeant David Lennon and Detective John Hill responded and made contact with a person who stated Bryan Karr, 53, of Perkins Street, pointed a pistol in their direction after a verbal argument. When deputies tried to detain Karr, he resisted.
Karr reportedly put a handgun to his head and then pointed it at the victim. When the victim grabbed the pistol, it discharged inside the residence.
The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries when the gun was fired and was treated at the scene by Whitley County EMS. Two others, including one person under the age of 18, were inside the residence but were not harmed.
Karr is charged with attempted murder, resisting arrest, two counts of wanton endangerment. He was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center. Corbin Police Office Rick Baker and Kentucky State Police Trooper Dewayne Foley assisted.
