Around 7:15 p.m January 11, 2018, deputies Brian Hensley and Jonas Saunders went to a Back Street residence in the Woodbine community in an attempt to serve a probation and parole warrant on Shannon M. Canada, 29.
Canada was located in the residence. His warrant was for violating conditions of his probation resulting from prior drug and theft-related charges. He was taken into custody without incident.
Also in the residence was Barbara Vanderpool, 24. On Jan. 7, deputies spoke with her while trying to locate Canada. Vanderpool was advised that Canada was wanted for arrest and to contact law enforcement if she knew his location.
During the investigation, Vanderpool revealed that she had two pills concealed in her chest area. She was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and hindering apprehension. Both were lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
