On February 9, 2018, Deputy Cody Harrell was traveling on Hwy 1804 to follow up on an investigation when a driver flagged him down. The man said he had driven behind a blue Ford SUV that was driving erratically and he suspected the driver may be under the influence.
Dep. Harrell was able to locate the described vehicle near the Kentucky-Tennessee state line and made contact with the driver, Christina Siler, 34 of Newcomb, TN. Siler could not complete field sobriety tests. Williamsburg Police Department K9 Officer Elijah Hunter assisted in searching the vehicle.
During Dep. Harrell’s investigation, Jacklyn M. Jones, 30, left a toddler in a shopping cart, and approached Dep. Harrell. Jones showed signs of impairment and could not complete field sobriety tests. Social services was contacted and the child released into the custody of a family member.
Siler was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. Jones was arrested and charged with public intoxication and endangering the welfare of a minor. Both were lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center
Deputies Joe Prewitt and Brandon Prewitt also assisted in the investigation.
