Around 3 a.m. Sunday, February 18, 2018, Deputy Brian Hensley was patrolling the Goldbug community in response to recent criminal activity in the area when he noticed a man walking North along US Hwy 25.
Dep. Hensley made contact with Joseph Bauer, 33, of Williamsburg, who showed signs of intoxication. Whitley County E911 verified Bauer had a bench warrant for his arrest. During a search incident to arrest, Dep. Hensley located in Bauer’s pants two plastic bags. Bauer claimed the bags contained Epsom Salt. A field test indicated the presence of methamphetamine.
Bauer was arrested for the warrant and also charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (meth) and public intoxication.
The sheriff’s department will continue extra patrols of the Watts Creek and greater Goldbug area in response to recent complaints.
